Hullo,
one) Is the upshot with specific carte du jour or with all the cards?

b. Search for the name of the device
If the device is not getting detected in device manager, then cheque if it is hidden device.

Thanks for the quick response. I have checked other SD cards and the aforementioned problem exists with all of them. It doesn't seem to matter what size the card is. Besides, the cards work fine in my older Toshiba laptop.
The card is non recognized in device manager unless I boot the computer with the card already in it. That leads me to believe that the drivers are upwards to date because the carte du jour will read fine at that point. Once I accept the menu out for awhile and re-insert information technology, the device director will no longer find it. I take tried clicking on "evidence hidden devices" merely that doesn't help.
Using a USB adapter has the same issue. The computer will recognize the USB adapter just not the card inserted into the adapter.
I will try a couple of other things that you recommended.
Thanks once again.

Unfortunately, none of these fixes helped my state of affairs. As I stated, the SDHC cards will work equally long as they are inserted when I restart the computer. They will usually continue to piece of work until I restart the figurer WITHOUT the card inserted. I feel like it is an "autoplay" effect.
I tin read the cards if I plug my cameras into the USB port and so I do have a manner to transfer my pictures. However, it would be overnice to merely be able to insert the cards directly into the laptop.
Thank you for helping.

Hi,
The very starting time thing I would do is rule out drivers 100%. Specially since this is simply happening since upgrading to Windows 7.
So, the first thing I would do is visit HP's support site, and download any updates that are available. Especially if there is a BIOS update.
One time y'all're certain you lot've updated all your chipset drivers, then restart and attempt the bulldoze again.
If nonetheless no joy so possibly this is a power effect.
See the thread I've linked below. The problem is not the exact same, just the steps listed past Imran are going to be the aforementioned for you.
I hope this helps!

Josh-H,
I tried your recommendations but nothing worked. I visited the HP site and the only updates involved the keyboard and the graphics card. I updated both of those. I also uninstalled each USB controller and let the computer re-install them upon re-kicking. The SD card worked initially subsequently that only would not work again afterward re-booting. The SD card will notwithstanding piece of work if information technology is inserted before booting so I could get out an SD card inserted to force it to work all the time.
I have a feeling that things may not exist booting in the proper order which may be the reason that the SD card slot works if a card is already inserted. I just don't know plenty about it to correct it if that is the cause.
Cheers over again for all your help.
